Profile Settings

Your profile is your username, display name, bio, avatar, and status. Friends and group members can see it.

Username

Chosen at signup, minimum 6 characters. You can change it once every 30 days from your profile — changing it locks it for 30 days.

Display name and bio

Set a display name (shown instead of your username in lists and headers) and a short bio up to 500 characters. Display names support unicode and emoji.

Avatar

Upload an image (JPEG, PNG, or WebP, under 1MB) straight from your profile. It is stored on our media servers. Remove it any time to go back to your initial letter.

Status

Pick Online, Do Not Disturb, Fuck Off, or let yourself go Offline automatically when you close the tab, log out, or lose connection.

Encryption keys

View your public key under Settings > Encryption Keys. Your private key is never displayed. A server-side encrypted backup exists so new devices can pick up your history. Resetting keys permanently destroys old message history on both ends.
